Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10: 22-25
Bess and I continue to seek the Lord for clear vision, wisdom, and direction for the ministry here in Israel.
Our scheduled mission team for August has rescheduled for November. We have a team scheduled for September, October, and a second one in November. Both Israel and the U.S. are experiencing a “second-wave” of Covid-19, making it very challenging, with a tightening of some of the restrictions that were just loosened. Pray with us for a breakthrough.
I must admit, I had been getting a little impatient and grew frustrated in not hearing from the Lord regarding our current situation. For the first time in 36 years of walking with the Lord, I did the unspeakable.
I randomly opened the bible, and with my eyes closed, my finger landed on this verse.
“Even to your old age and gray hairs, I am He, I Am He who will sustain you, I have made you and I have carried you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” (Isaiah 46:4)
Wow, Me of little faith. After wiping away a tear or two, I regained my composure, and hurriedly went to share the verse with Bess. She had the same reaction. Wow, You of little faith!
Some encouraging words for all of us. I did think the Lord was getting a little too personal with the old age and the gray hair stuff, but he did make his point very clear to me.
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful”, as the author of Hebrews reminds us.
I realized as I reread the verse in Hebrews that I chose up top, I found it interesting that the writer reminds us to “not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing”. Lord, are you speaking to me again.
Guilty as charged. We can use all the excuses of the “pandemic” and all the restrictions, but it’s a poor excuse. The second part of that verse is even more condemning, “and all the more, as you see the Day approaching”.
It doesn’t matter which commentator you read regarding that portion. It is the duty of all of us to assemble together to worship the King of Kings, on the account of God, who has appointed it, that we may be delighted, refreshed, comforted, instructed, edified, and perfected, as one commentator aptly stated.
I don’t know about you, but “I can see the Day approaching”.
We have been trying to stay busy and productive. We volunteered at “Vision For Israel”, a believing organization that supplies food, clothing, furniture, etc; to the underprivileged. Because Israel has not opened its borders to any country yet, all of the humanitarian organizations have no volunteers, as much of the work is usually supplied by those coming from abroad.
