"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him. With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles." And the people gained confidence from what Hezekiah the king of Judah said.
- 2Chronicles 32:7-8

As the planet continues to spiral downhill, seemingly out of control, we must hold fast to the encouraging words of King Hezekiah. We must be strong and courageous, fearless, and full of confidence that the Lord is in total control of what appears to be total chaos, darkness and confusion. The Lord WILL fight our battles, whether it be in the natural or the spiritual realm.

The perfect parallel verse in the New Testament is of course is:  I John 4:4 “You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” Sounds like Hezekiah and John were listening to the same voice. Sometimes “strong & courageous”, “fearless & full of faith” and everything else the Word of God instructs us to be and do……. are easier said than done!

Last night Bess & I were invited to join a large group of young adults, believers, on a walking tour of an area about 13 kilometers west, in the foothills of Jerusalem. Led by an old friend, a pastor of one of the local congregations, we drove to a central meeting place and proceeded to hike in. The path we were on looked exactly like the picture above. Yup, you guessed it…we were on the road to Emmaus…the real road! It was absolutely amazing. Pastor Ofir did not tell us where we were, until we stopped and sat down, as he proceeded to read the verses in: Luke 24:13-32

All of a sudden I was able to relate to Cleopas. Walking on a very familiar route, probably heading home, and he didn’t even realize that Yeshua was in his very presence, walking side by side, carrying on a conversation with the risen Lord, the Messiah, the creator of the universe.

No matter what challenges we are facing, and whatever challenges we will encounter down our “Road to Emmaus”, let us not forget that Yeshua is in our midst, standing in the gap, interceding on our behalf…be of good cheer- he has overcome the World!

We have a chance to experience verse 32 of Luke 24 on a daily basis…”Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”

Friends, we need to be cranking up our prayer time and our time in the Word so that OUR hearts are burning for his presence….We must be passionate & desperate for his presence.

Hearing his voice, and seeking his face will be the prerequisite for navigating through the days ahead…The time is short!

We have a special team arriving on July 27th. Haven Ministries is centered on evangelism, and we need your prayers for divine appointments and safety, as we tour the country experiencing the beauty of Israel and looking to share the Good News with the Lost Sheep of The House of Israel.

We are moving into our new home this week. Your prayers are needed for a smooth transition and to have everything ready for the arriving teams.

We have the opportunity to purchase a 2004 Hyundai 9-person Van. The cost is 27,000 shekel- that’s about $7,000. If that sounds expensive, you’re right. That’s life in Israel. Cars are double here because of shipping & duty. During the summer, the cost to rent a 9-person van for 10 days is $2,000.Sounds like a good business decision to buy. If you’re interested in partnering with us, your tax-deductible gift. We need your help to be able to make the purchase.
